Barter Theatre
Magic means something different to every person.
For some, magic is the spectacle of theatre; lighting, costumes props and set designs created by Barter’s artists specifically for each production, and designed to perfection to meet the needs of each moment of each play. For many, magic is found in the moments that move them emotionally, whether they laugh or cry; magic is in the tremendous talent of Barter’s actors to pull an audience into a story and transport that audience into another world where we can live for a couple of hours.
A common thread in all definitions of magic here at Barter is the single question I get asked most frequently—“How did they do that?” Or in other words, “How was that actor able to make me laugh so hard? How did the stage look so beautiful? How did you make that set, those costumes? How does Barter continue to do each show better than the last?”
Barter is a world of magical experiences every day where we can surprise you in ways you would never expect, take your breath away with the spectacular beauty of our creations, move you into feeling things you thought you might never feel, and transport you into worlds that you thought you might never experience. Through it all, you will experience the magic of what it means to be human because, ultimately, that is the real magic we create at Barter Theatre.
Come and experience the magic of live, professional theatre at Barter, where magic happens every day as it has for the last 70 magical years.

A few years later the Little Theatre, which had been run by the U.S. Army's recreation department, broke off on its own and became Oak Ridge Community Playhouse.

The magazine has been added to, over the years, but some of the areas have fallen slightly behind, due to the abundance of work we have been doing in our family. We are also running a 501(c)(3) ministry now. We have just recently been recreating the magazine (still free and online) and will re-release it soon.
